The NSO's and NO's have been determined for some wavefunctions for Li, Be1+, B2+, C3+ 2S, and Be 3S wavefunctions containing radial correlation. It is shown how the NO's may be utilized to form rapidly converging CI expansions in general. The role of the NSO's in this problem is discussed. ©1973 The American Institute of Physics
The emission characteristics of compression ignition (CI) engines running on biodiesel during transient operating conditions, which is the most usual case in urban and extra-urban transportation, have rarely been investigated. In the present study an experimental investigation on emission characteristics of a CI engine has been carried out both under steady state and transient operating conditions. The experimental work has been carried out on CI engine, which is integrated with transient testing facility. This facility is capable of varying the engine speed and load over a given time period. To measure the engine emissions, an emission analyser has been used to measure CO2, CO, THC, and NOx emissions. The fuels used in the analyses are 25% (25B) and 100% (100B) of biodiesel blend and diesel. The series of the transient events studied...
CI therapy is effective in patients with relatively good levels of residual arm function but its applicability to patients with low-functioning hemiparesis is not entirely clear. In the present study, we examined the feasibility and efficacy of the CI therapy concept in patients with very limited upper arm function prior to treatment, and further tested how the length of daily shaping training and constraining the good arm affects treatment outcome. In a baseline-controlled design, 65 chronic patients were treated with 2weeks of modified CI therapy. Patients were randomly allocated to four treatment groups receiving 90 or 180 min of daily shaping training applied with or without constraint, respectively. Outcome was measured through the Reliable Change Index, which was calculated for parameters of motor function, health, and psychologi...
Biodiesel, an alternative fuel consisting of the alkyl monoesters of fatty acids from vegetable oils or animal fats, has been recognized recently as an environment friendly fuel for diesel engines. In the present study an investigation on engine performance of a compression ignition (CI) engine has been carried out under the steady state as well as transient conditions. The parameters required for the model have been obtained from a turbocharged, 4 cylinders, 4 stroke, and water cooled engine. The physical and chemical properties of the biodiesel and its blends were tested according to EN ISO 3675:1998 and EN ISO 3104:1996 standards. For the test rapeseed oil biodiesel and its blends with normal diesel were used at 0%, 20%, 50%, and 100% of biodiesel blending. The series of transient cycles studied included speed profile changes of 80...
Currently, alternative fuels are being investigated in detail for application in compression ignition (CI) engines resulting in exciting potential opportunities to increase energy security and reduce gas emissions. Biodiesel is one of the alternative fuels which is renewable and environmentally friendly and can be used in diesel engines with little or no modifications. The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of biodiesel types and biodiesel fraction on the emission characteristics of a CI engine. The experimental work was carried out on a four-cylinder, four-stroke, direct injection (DI) and turbocharged diesel engine by using biodiesel made from waste oil, rapeseed oil, corn oil and comparing them to normal diesel. The fuels used in the analyses are B10, B20, B50, B100 and neat diesel. The engine was operated over a ...
In order to check the heterogeneity of the CI chondrites and determine the average composition of this group of meteorites, we analyzed a series of six large chips (weighing between 0.6 and 1.2 g) of Orgueil prepared from five different stones. In addition, one sample from each of Ivuna and Alais was analyzed. Although the sizes of the chips used in this study were "large", our results show evidence for minor chemical heterogeneity in Orgueil, particularly for alkali elements and U. After removal of one outlier sample, the spread of the results is considerably reduced. For most of the 46 elements analyzed in this study, the average composition calculated for Orgueil is in very good agreement with previous CI estimates. This average, obtained with a "large" mass of samples, is analytically homogeneous and is suitable for normalization p...
This works tries to establish the performance of truncated CI calculations on the evaluation of magnetic coupling parameters with respect to available FCI estimates on a set of carbon-beryllium clusters. First-, second- and third-neighbor magnetic coupling constants have been evaluated and many body effective parameters as the cyclic terms. They result from the fitting of the low-lying states to the eigenvalues of an extended Heisenberg Hamiltonian, involving not only two-body isotropic terms but also cyclic terms. SDCI and DDCI calculations have been carried out and their performance compared with FCI ones. The impact of the basis set choice and size-consistency errors have been explored.
We present a detailed study of photon dominated regions at several spiral arm positions and the centers of the nearby spiral galaxies M51 and M83. For this, we combine all important cooling lines: [CI] 609 mu m taken at the JCMT with (CO)-C-12 and (CO)-C-13 1-0 and 2-1 lines taken at the IRAM 30m MRT. These transitions are combined with data taken from the literature: ISO/L VS [CII] 158 mu m, [OI] 63 mu m, 146 mu m, and [NII] (122 mu m) data [1] and mid-J CO lines from [2,3,4].
