In efforts to facilitate the utilization of EAPs and access to EAP services, traditional supervisory referral processes have trailed behind increased worker needs. EAP purchasers (e.g., employers), therefore, have demanded improving penetration rates of impaired employees in their workplaces. More specifically, there is a need for increased access to EAP services and resources for workers throughout organizations. Given this pragmatic marketplace objective and a gap in EAP research concerning supervisory interventions, this study examined various aspects of the supervisor-troubled employee identification and intervention process. It was thought that there are a variety of alternative helping strategies that supervisors' enact, along with initiating an EAP referral. It was also assumed that these helping strategies might be more appropr...
The growth of the Adult Fitness Program in recent years has necessitated increased student involvement in the conduct of the program. What was once a small exercise program with limited testing has now blossomed into one concerned with cardiac rehabilitation and chemical dependency patients as we II as increased numbers of Adult Fitness Participants. Presently, approximately 20+ students work extensively in various roles each year thus emphasizing the need for clearly defined descriptions of the duties associated with these roles. The purpose of this project is to present in an organized and detailed manner the specific duties and job descriptions related to the efficient operation of all phases of the Adult Fitness, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Chemical Dependency programs. The resultant manual is divided into three general topics: 1) ...

Individuals often exhibit a systematic preference for decision consistent information, a
phenomenon known as the congeniality bias. The current study utilized event related potential
methodology to investigate the neural underpinnings of the congeniality bias by examining the
cognitive resources devoted to processing decision consistent and decision inconsistent
information. Results revealed participants devoted substantially more attentional resources to
processing decision consistent information during the decision making process. This finding
supports the role of a defensive motivation, driven by a desire to maintain cognitive consistency,
in the congeniality bias. Discussion concerns implications for interventions designed to reduce
the strength of congeniality bias by altering the allocation of attentional resources during...
Horses are important animals to human beings. For a long time, horses have been
companions for humans. They have been a symbol of power, affluence, authority, and might. It
has been reported that humans began the process of domesticating horses around the year 4000
BCE. Since then, humans have used horses for different purposes among them being:
agricultural work, food, transport, herding, war, pleasure, and sports activities. However, some
of these uses have been lost over time. Technology has advanced, but horses have remained
around for thousands of years. There are numerous breeds of horses, which have evolved over
time into the formidable creatures that we see today.
Given the role played by horses in modern society, there is the need to appreciate
different aspects regarding horses such as their history, anatomy, disease...
The Atlantic City Boardwalk and Waterfront area in recent times has lost its vibrant status. To solve this problem, a master plan was developed to revitalize the Boardwalk and Waterfront within Atlantic City. The revitalization strategy includes linking the waterfront, and voids along the Boardwalk with the inner city in order to establish an optimum usage and also create a vibrant atmosphere of both places for its citizens. This project considered the history, culture, contemporary pedestrian needs and implements them into an environmental and urban setting in order to reestablish the Boardwalk's image. It also assesses how the Boardwalk could serve as a nodal link between the city and the water, be made to attract to citizens and visitors, and also diversify economic potentials of the current domineering gaming industry.

Many would suggest that today's education system is in a state of peril, yet many people still choose to enter the profession regardless of warnings from a variety of sources. I conducted a study to determine what is actually wrong with education, from the viewpoint of various stakeholders in education. Through the results gathered from my survey, I was able to determine two root causes of the degradation of American education: government involvement and standardized testing. I discuss the background of these issues and the implications they have on education. I close with a brief sentiment, suggesting one step to take in redefining education for the future.
