This report identifies discharges of liquid waste streams that require documentation of the best available technology selection process at Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC, operated facilities at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory. The best available technology selection process is conducted according to Department of Energy Order 5400.5, Chapter II (3), “Management and Control of Radioactive Materials in Liquid Discharges and Phaseout of Soil Columns” and Department of Energy guidance. This report evaluates only those liquid waste streams and facilities where the best available technology selection process was determined to apply. Two facilities (Idaho Nuclear Technology and Engineering Center New Percolation Ponds and Test Area North/Technical Support Facility Sewage Treatment Plant Disposal Pond) at the Idaho Nationa...
This report summarizes the Fiscal Year 2009 Revegetation Assessment by Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC. This assessment was conducted to supplement documentation related to the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan for Construction Activities and to ensure that disturbed vegetation and soil at various locations are being restored. This report provides the following information for each site being monitored by the Idaho National Laboratory Environmental Support and Services: • Summary of each site • Assessment of vegetation status and site stabilization at each location • Recommendation(s) for each site.

In this chapter, I review research involving remote human supervision of multiple unmanned vehicles (UVs) using command complexity as an organizing construct. Multi-UV tasks range from foraging, requiring little coordination among UVs, to formation following, in which UVs must function as a cohesive unit. Command complexity, the degree to which operator effort increases with the number of supervised UVs, is used to categorize human interaction with multiple UVs. For systems in which each UV requires the same form of attention (O(n)), effort increases linearly with the number of UVs. For systems in which the control of one UV is dependent upon another (O(>n)), additional UVs impose greater than linear increases due to the expense of coordination. For other systems, an operator interacts with an autonomously coordinating group, and effor...
This dissertation is a collection of three essays which study different aspects of category captainship, a new and increasingly popular category management strategy. In this strategy retailers delegate their control of product categories to one of the manufacturers operating within that category, who is referred to as the ``category captain''. As this practice is new, many answers regarding the optimal implementation of category captainship remain unanswered. In the first essay we study a model of category captainship where manufacturers are asymmetric with respect to how many brand-loyal consumers they each posses and retailers are only able to delegate the single responsibility of the setting of retail prices. Our findings shed some light on the role of manufacturer size in the category captain selection process. In the second essay ...
This report describes conditions, as required by the state of Idaho Wastewater Reuse Permit (LA-000141-03), for the wastewater land application site at Idaho National Laboratory Site's Central Facilities Area Sewage Treatment Plant from November 1, 2010, through October 31, 2011. The report contains the following information: (1) Site description; (2) Facility and system description; (3) Permit required monitoring data and loading rates; (4) Status of special compliance conditions and activities; and (5) Discussion of the facility's environmental impacts. During the 2011 permit year, approximately 1.22 million gallons of treated wastewater was land-applied to the irrigation area at Central Facilities Area Sewage Treatment plant.
